Labour Law: Agreement on Job Completion
Monday, 29 July 2013 08:30

The amendment to the Labour Code effective as of 1 January 2012 introduces certain major changes in the area of the agreement on job completion (in Czech: dohoda o provedení práce), as one of two special types of employment.

An employee may newly work for one employer on the basis of an agreement on job completion for up to 300 hours in a calendar year. The agreement must be concluded in writing and must specify the period of time for which the employment is being concluded.

Furthermore, a rule has been added pursuant to which an employee working on the basis of an agreement on job completion may not work for more than 12 hours in the course of 24 consecutive hours.

Agreement on job completion has also been affected by certain changes introduced in the laws pertaining to sickness, pension and public health insurance. If the employee’s remuneration under an agreement on job completion exceeds the amount of CZK 10,000 in one month, the employment established by the agreement on job completion becomes subject to mandatory insurance. In such a case, the remuneration paid under the agreement on job completion is subject to the same insurance contributions and the same taxation as ordinary salary or wages.
